A Touch of Red Original Landscape Painting

This painting was a delight to paint, with its soft layers and textures.  The pink clouds on a blue sky reflect the drama of a setting sun on a glorious summer's day.  There is a subtle change in colours from green to blue to black with glimpses of pink underneath giving a sense of peace and calm. The addition of red gives the picture a pop of colour that gives the artwork that bit of energy that is a reflection of the drama of the sky.

I have used a mixture of media to create this artwork. The painting gives the impression of simplicity, however the use of layering paint and various different media gives the picture hidden depths you may not see at first.  I have used crepe paper in the sky to give the clouds texture and emotion.  Scratches in the paint creates the notion of grasses and hedgerows.  The use of textiles also gives the fields texture and increased interest.  And the use of black pen marks offers a added dimension and keeps the eye interested in what is going on in the picture and hence a feeling of being involved in the painting.
